What You May Do
CC BY 4.0 grants two permissions, for any purpose, commercial use included:
- Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
- Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material.
It attaches two conditions:
- Attribution: give appropriate credit, link to the license, and state whether you made changes. Any reasonable manner works, provided it does not suggest the licensor endorses you or your use.
- No additional restrictions: do not apply legal terms or technological measures that stop others from doing what the license permits.
This summary is not the license. The legal code is.
Attribution
Credit a single page by its title:
"<Title>, Erebine, 2026, https://erebine.ai/docs"
Credit the documentation as a whole:
"Erebine Documentation, https://erebine.ai/docs"
Link the credit to https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/, and say so when you changed the material, for example "adapted from" or "excerpted and edited".
Scope
The license covers the documentation text, diagrams, and code samples published under /docs. It does not cover:
- The Erebine platform software. The router, control plane, and frontend are proprietary.
- The Erebine marks. The Erebine name and logo and the EIM, EEM, and erectl names are governed by the trademark policy, and no license on this page grants rights to them.
- Third-party content, which carries its own license.
The erectl client and the EIM and EEM agents are software, not documentation, and ship under the MIT License: see erectl and the Agents.
The agent container images layer Erebine software onto a vendor base image whose components carry vendor terms: see Container Images.
erectl and the Agents
The erectl client and the EIM and EEM agents are distributed as binaries under the MIT License.
This is the full license text, including the lines that follow the license on trademarks, third-party notices, and the licensing model.

Trademarks are not licensed under this license. See https://erebine.ai/trademark.
Third-party components: see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.
Erebine is MIT-licensed agents, an open API, a proprietary control plane.
The erectl client and the EIM and EEM agents are distributed as MIT-licensed
binaries. The Erebine platform (router, control plane, frontend) is proprietary.
Documentation and design papers are published under CC BY 4.0.
Every release of the binaries after v1.13.0 attaches the license text as LICENSE and the third-party notices as THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES. Those release binaries also print both: run erectl license, erebine-eim-agent --license, or erebine-eem-agent --license. Downloads are on the Downloads page.
Container Images
The agent container images are not the same artifact as the agent binaries. The binaries are MIT. An image is the MIT-licensed Erebine layer on top of a vendor base image, and the base carries its own terms.
The CUDA agent images, eim-vllm-cuda and eim-vllm-omni-cuda, are built on nvcr.io/nvidia/cuda-dl-base and contain NVIDIA software: the CUDA toolkit and runtime, cuDNN, NCCL, NVSHMEM, and the TensorRT runtime libraries. NVIDIA licenses those components under the NVIDIA Software License Agreement and the Product-Specific Terms for NVIDIA AI Products. The MIT License does not reach them. Pulling or running an image accepts those terms.
The ROCm agent image, eim-vllm-rocm, is built on rocm/dev-ubuntu-24.04 and contains AMD ROCm components. AMD licenses ROCm per component, under MIT, Apache-2.0, NCSA, and BSD licenses, and ships two packages, ROCprof Trace Decoder and the AOCC CPU optimizations, in binary form under the AMD Software End User License Agreement instead.
Every image carries its license texts. /usr/share/licenses/erebine/ holds the Erebine MIT text, the third-party notices for the Erebine binary, and a routing file naming where every other license in the image lives: the NVIDIA notices at /workspace/license.txt and /opt/nvidia/entrypoint.d/, the AMD per-component texts at /opt/rocm/share/doc/, the Ubuntu base at /usr/share/doc/, and the Python packages in their dist-info directories.
The vendor terms restrict use, not only redistribution. The Acceptable Use Policy states them; emotion recognition is prohibited outright on the NVIDIA images. Benchmarking, regression, and performance results for the CUDA agent image may be published without permission from NVIDIA, under the exemption NVIDIA publishes for the cuda-dl-base container. That exemption covers those results only: competitive analysis is not in that exemption, and a comparison against a non-NVIDIA platform still needs NVIDIA's written permission.
If you redistribute an image, or give anyone access to a product or service built on one, section 18 of the Terms requires you to pass these terms on.

Code Samples
Code samples on /docs are licensed under CC BY 4.0 and, at your option, under the MIT License. Pick either. Under MIT the copyright line is Copyright © 2026 Kevin Carter, followed by the MIT permission notice.
The MIT option covers code samples only. Prose and diagrams stay under CC BY 4.0.
The Licensing Model
Erebine is MIT-licensed agents, an open API, a proprietary control plane. The erectl client and the EIM and EEM agents are distributed as MIT-licensed binaries. The Erebine platform (router, control plane, frontend) is proprietary. Documentation and design papers are published under CC BY 4.0.
Section 17 of the Terms of Service states the same model. The trademark policy covers the marks.
