Data Retention and Account Deletion.
What happens to your data when a balance runs out, when an account is suspended, and when you decide to leave. Each clause opens with a plain-English summary of what triggers removal and when.
1 Grace period after a zero balance
plain english When your credit balance reaches zero, your stored content is not removed right away. There is a grace period first, and we tell you it has started.
If your balance reaches zero, your account enters a grace period. During this window your stored content stays in place and you can top up your balance to keep it. We send notice when the grace period begins and remind you before it ends, so you have time to add credit or take an export.
2 Removal after the grace period
plain english If you do not add credit before the grace period ends, the data that consumes ongoing resources is removed. Add credit in time and nothing is removed.
Stored content and data that consume ongoing storage and compute, such as your conversations, uploaded files, artifacts, and hosted models, are removed after the grace period ends if the balance is still at or below zero. Topping up before the grace period ends keeps your data in place. Removal is permanent; recovery is not guaranteed once content has been removed, which is why we recommend keeping your balance positive or taking an export. Images you upload are kept for the window set by your workspace image-retention policy and are deleted when that window expires or when your account is deleted.
3 Suspension pauses removal
plain english If your account is suspended, the grace clock stops. A suspended account is not purged or deleted while the suspension is in place.
When an account is suspended, removal is paused: a suspended account is held, not purged and not deleted. The grace period does not run while a suspension is in effect. If the suspension is lifted and a zero balance remains, a fresh grace period starts from the moment the suspension is lifted, giving you the full window again before anything is removed.
4 Records we keep by law
plain english Some records are kept even after your content is gone: billing, compliance, and abuse or safety records we are required to retain. These never include your conversation content.
Removing your content does not remove records we are legally required to keep. We retain a limited set of records for legal, tax, accounting, compliance, and safety obligations, including billing and payment records, compliance and audit logs, and abuse and safety reports. These retained records are kept for the period the relevant law requires and are not used to reconstruct your removed content. This is consistent with our Privacy Policy retention section.
5 Cancellation and account deletion
plain english You can cancel and delete at any time. Deletion removes your content and your project; leaving entirely also removes your identity. The legal records above still stay.
You can cancel and request deletion at any time from your account settings. Deletion removes your content and your project from the platform. If you are leaving entirely and hold no other membership, your identity is removed as well. The records we are required to keep, described in section 4, persist after deletion to meet legal and tax obligations, and they never include your conversation content. Termination and deletion are also covered in our Terms of Service termination clause.
6 Export your data before leaving
plain english Before you leave, you can export all of your data. Take the export before content is removed.
You can export all of your data from your account at any time, including your conversations, uploaded files, artifacts, and the records tied to your account. Take an export before a grace period ends or before you delete your account, so you keep your own copy of everything before it is removed.
