Trademark policy.
The open-source licenses cover the code and the documentation. They do not cover the names. This page says how you may use Erebine, EIM, EEM, and erectl, and when you need to ask first.
// 01
The marks
This policy covers:
- the Erebine word mark and the Erebine logo;
- EIM, EEM, and erectl, as the names of our products.
// 02
Ownership
Erebine LLC owns these marks and claims them at common law, on the strength of use in commerce. No registration is claimed for them. A mark without a registration symbol is not a mark you are free to use.
// 03
No trademark license
The erectl client and the EIM and EEM agents are distributed under the MIT License. The documentation and published design papers are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Neither license grants any right to use the Erebine marks. Those licenses govern what you may do with the code and the text; this policy governs what you may do with the names.
// 04
Permitted uses
You may do the following without asking:
- Refer to our products by name. Use Erebine, EIM, EEM, or erectl in text to identify our products, no more prominently than the reference needs.
- State compatibility truthfully. Say your product "works with Erebine" or is "compatible with Erebine" when it does.
- Redistribute official binaries unmodified. Pass on the official erectl, EIM agent, and EEM agent builds unmodified, with the name intact, under the MIT License.
// 05
Prohibited uses
You may not:
- Imply endorsement or affiliation. Do not suggest that Erebine sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with you, your product, or your service.
- Put the logo on a build we did not make. The Erebine logo stays off third-party software, packages, and images.
- Distribute a modified build under our names. The MIT License lets you modify erectl and the agents. Rename a modified build before you distribute it: it must not carry the Erebine, EIM, EEM, or erectl name.

Asking for permission
For any use this page does not permit, email contact@erebine.ai. Name the mark, describe the use, and say where it will appear. Permission is granted in writing or not at all.
